Android N with a revamped Multi-Window

While most of the devices are still getting the Android Marshmallow (6.0.1) updates, Google has released a Developer's preview of the new Android N. Developers have been continuously exploring this developer's preview and providing us with the new features in this new upgrade. One such feature in Android N is 'Multi-Window', this feature has been introduced in Android Lollipop but it has been upgraded to a whole new level.

In this update the screen of a handheld device can support a split screen in which two applications can be run side by side or one on top of another, for bigger devices like tab or a TV the application developers can provide a picture in picture mode. In the handheld version the size of the split screen can also be re sized according to our need just by dragging the interface line between the two applications.

Figure: Two apps running side by side in split screen mode

Android is providing the developers with Android N sdk to build and configure their applications according to their needs. If the developers wish to disable the multi-window option to provide a full screen experience to the customers, that option has also been provided to them by Android.

In addition to running applications in multi-window mode, users can even launch a new application in multi-window mode. This new version of Android will also be supporting Drag and Drop feature in which the user will be able to drag and drop data from one application to other application that are together sharing the screen. We can hope to see more exciting refinements in this version of Android in the days to come.

The One With Netflix

Hey,Are you enjoying Netflix services or not.  Netflix?? Have you heard this word before or not.I think, people mostly in India didn't hear about it before 2016.As of January 6, Netflix has been available in India but most of the people are still confuse with this term.
So this article will quest your thirst

What is Netflix ?

Netflix is the most popular video streaming service that allows users to watch content on screens ranging from a smartphones to a smart television. It works with a variety of other devices like PlayStation and Apple TV, letting users stream directly onto larger screen. Netflix is also the creator of a lot of original, made for the web content, much of which is now in high-resolution Ultra HD.It launched its services in India and 129 other countries on January 6. With the launch, the popular TV and movie streaming service now covers most of the world except for China. It is not free.Users have to pay according to their plans. In a nut shell, it is complementary to cable.

How to use Netflix ?

You can sign up for Netflix either through the website or the Netflix app that is available on iOS, Windows and other major platforms. During signup, you are asked to enter your card details and age. But if you are trying to make a purchase through iOS or Android, then your card details are already there with the store.

During signup you have to specify if you are above 18 and this means there is not going to be a lot of censored content, while everything will be rated. However, while creating a profile Netflix lets you identify children so that they don’t get access to any adult content. It has said that it is not censoring any videos in India as of now. The company also told Gadgets 360 that it may reduce pricing in the future.

How is the  service priced in India ?

First month of their service is free in India. They are offering 3 pacakges in India :-

1.Basic :- It costs INR 500. In this package, user will get the basic facilities like access to all the content anywhere and at any time.
2.Standard :- It costs INR 650. It provides HD services and one can watch content on two screens simultaneously.
3.Premium :- It costs INR 800 and apart from all the benefits offered in the Standard package, it provides Ultra HD facilities and the capability to watch content on four screens at the same time.

User can also cancel the package as and when one wishes to.

Indian library on Netflix :-

The library of shows and movies is tailored according to region, therefore, user can’t expect to see exactly the same shows in India that are aired in the US. Generally speaking, It does have regional variations in its content — for instance, user won’t find exactly the same stuff on a Netflix UK service as its US one — but what is disappointing many people is that at the moment, less than 10 per cent of the content available on a US Netflix account is accessible in India. So some popular shows you won’t be able to watch include House of Cards, Breaking Bad (Really good serial), New Girl and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

It brought you not just shows, movies and documentaries popular in the US, but also local content. So get ready to see Bollywood movies, regional content and — who knows — maybe locally produced Netflix originals? According to the Wire, there are about 80 Indian movies and TV shows already available, mostly in Hindi, and more are to come.

Advantages of Netflix :-

Indians are some of the biggest entertainment buffs of the world. They are mad for IPL games, films, music videos while returning home from work or going to office. This is why Hotstar has become such a popular app and this is where Netflix too can play a major role.

What Indian viewers will further like about Netflix is the fact that one can cancel the plan anytime online. Experts are of the opinion that Netflix will bring a major revolution in the way Indians use entertainment channels. The good part is that while watching a video, users don’t have to watch any commercials and user can pause, rewind, fast forward and re-watch the video at any point of time

In the last few years, the number of young Indian viewers with access to international hits like Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, Flash and various films – especially the franchises – has only grown and as a result the Indian TV industry has lost some of its edge especially in the urban areas. This void can be filled by Netflix.

Several people in India also feel that Netflix, with its penchant for producing original content, will make shows and documentaries in India as well and thus some employment would be generated in the Indian entertainment industry.

With Netflix, user can watch any content at any place and at any time.
The quality of content on Netflix is really amazing. One can take his pick from various genres like action, drama, comedy or TV shows and documentaries and enjoy watching it on HD.

User can watch content on their Smart TVs, Chromecasts, PlayStations, Apple TVs, Xboxes, and Blu-Ray players. If they want to catch it on-the–go, all they need to do is download the Netflix app on their smartphones. One can also catch the content on Netflix.com. So, there is a wide array of media to choose from.

Disadvantages of Netflix :-

Cost,Even the basic package costs INR 500 which many feel would be better utilized on broadband net connections and platforms such as Torrent. This is why perhaps Netflix is offering the first month for free with unlimited downloading facilities.

Internet Speed,It also requires a minimum connection speed of 512 kbps, and recommends needs at least 3 Mbps for standard definition and 5 Mbps for high definition (and 25 Mbps for ultra high definition). One hour of SD streaming will put you back by about 1GB and the same amount of HD by 3 GB. Most Indian broadband users have limits around 30 and 40 GB.

Data usage, according to company's own documentation, an HD stream can use up to 3GB of data per hour, while SD video can take anywhere between 300 and 700MB per hour. 4K Ultra HD streaming - if you have a fast enough connection to support that in the first place - will set you back by 7GB per hour.

I think this article will help you a lot to understand this term and it's impact on India.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Vs Galaxy Note 4

Recently Samsung launched its 5th variation in its much acclaimed and hyped Galaxy Note series. The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 which will be put to sales from September the 20th at a tentative price of Rs 53900(for the 32 Gb version), is quiet different from its predecessor. Samsung has really made some really bold changes into this model, but how many of these are really effective, lets find out.

Specs and Body

The most notable difference in the two models is the body. Note 5 being a lot more sleakier and compact has done away with the removable back cover and battery. The leather back cover of Note 4 has been replaced by glass in Note 5.The memory card slot has been done away with, and there is no way to increase memory in Note 5. Samsung has shed about 1mm in every direction to give Note 5 a better in hand feel.

Coming to the actual specs of Note 5, the phone has a 4 Gb RAM, in comparison to 3Gb of its predecessor, providing a better multi tasking experience. The phone comes in with 4G LTE enabled and a 64 bit octacore processor, 143.9 mm QuadHD display are all better than those of Note 4.Note  5 also comes with the 5.1.1 Lollipop version of android.3000 mAH battery of Note 5, is good enough for a complete days' work with most of its features active. Gorilla glass 4 present in Note 5 is also a notable feature difference, from the Note 4.

Charging and Camera

Note 5 comes with the fast charging and wireless charging feature, though the wireless charger doesn't come with the phone. Camera for both the phones are one of the best in the android series, Note 5 comes with a 16MP rear camera and a 5 MP front camera, with image stabilization. Image stabilization, also enables the user to record high quality videos.

The S Pen

The defining feature of the Note series is the S pen which differentiates it from the S and J series of samsung. Note 5 has definately taken a step towards the better for this feature. The S pen pops out of the phone on a simple click of a button and can perform a variety of functions, including jotting down notes on the screen while the screen is still locked. The clicky S pen is surely a welcome addition in Note 5.

 Comments

Inspite of Samsung making efforts to introduce lot of changes in Note 5,none of these changes actually make a lot of difference. In turn it has mostly taken inspiration from the S series for these changes. Now its upto the users to experience it and pass the final verdict on the Samsung Galaxy Note 5.
