Android N with a revamped Multi-Window

While most of the devices are still getting the Android Marshmallow (6.0.1) updates, Google has released a Developer's preview of the new Android N. Developers have been continuously exploring this developer's preview and providing us with the new features in this new upgrade. One such feature in Android N is 'Multi-Window', this feature has been introduced in Android Lollipop but it has been upgraded to a whole new level.

In this update the screen of a handheld device can support a split screen in which two applications can be run side by side or one on top of another, for bigger devices like tab or a TV the application developers can provide a picture in picture mode. In the handheld version the size of the split screen can also be re sized according to our need just by dragging the interface line between the two applications.

Figure: Two apps running side by side in split screen mode

Android is providing the developers with Android N sdk to build and configure their applications according to their needs. If the developers wish to disable the multi-window option to provide a full screen experience to the customers, that option has also been provided to them by Android.

In addition to running applications in multi-window mode, users can even launch a new application in multi-window mode. This new version of Android will also be supporting Drag and Drop feature in which the user will be able to drag and drop data from one application to other application that are together sharing the screen. We can hope to see more exciting refinements in this version of Android in the days to come.

XenoAmp - Amazing Music Player

There are literally tons of music players on the Google Play Store and you’ve probably had to sift through them to find the one that you’ve got right now. Some of you may want a music player with a lot of functions while others prefer music players that are basic and does what they say on the tin. XenoAmp BETA not only does what it was made to do but is also aesthetically pleasing.

XenoAmp brings together design elements from the Metro UI and Android’s magazine interface, laying album art all over what seems to be a freely scrollable, boundless black background. The UI is all about using natural gestures to control playback, manage playlists, and browse through albums in a very elegant, unique, and beautiful interface.

XenoAmp is an audio player with a difference (you'll know what I mean when you see it!) and while you can find all the features in official thread on XDA (and there's whole load of them!), let me point out those that make me most proud of:

- Audiogram-like headphone calibration (equalizer frequencies are set based on your amp/headphones/ears)

- Room calibration (based on microphone profiles sent by users) for times when you're      using your Android devices in docks, car or as audio sources for bigger equipment

- Replaygain support

- ViperAudio equalizer support (if available)

- Mix music music off your local files, SMB shares, Subsonic servers, Google Play, online radio or 8 tracks on single playlist(s). No matter where the file is physically, from your point of view it's just an audio track.

New Way To Root Your Device - - > CF Auto Root

The best rooting tool for many devices like Galaxy S1, Galaxy Tab 7", Galaxy S2, Galaxy Note, Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy S3, and many more CF-Root and CF-Auto-Root is available for many devices,over 50 different android models. This will be the quickest and easiest way for your first android rooting experience.

Chainfire has released root for all officially announced Android 5.0 Lollipop firmwares and for some Moto devices, the developer has released Android 5.0 root even before any official/leaked Android 5.0 update arrived.
Chainfire’s CF Auto Root (CFAR) is a one-click root method for your device. All you need is an unlocked bootloader on your device, and in case your device isnt already unlocked the CFAR will attempt to unlock the bootloader on your device. However, with Android 5.0 Lollipop, youll first have to enable OEM unlock from developer options under settings to be able to unlock bootloader.
     Warning
Rooting any device will void its hardware warranty, as you will be modifying system files to unlock OEM restrictions on the device. Nevertheless, you can easily unroot the device and restore it back to factory settings to regain your warranty status.

     Advantages
Rooting is where the real fun of Android begins, it takes your customization experience on Android to a whole another level. Root access basically means getting system-level privileges on your device, that’s to be able to modify system files. Root access isnt allowed by default because if used without knowledge or care, you could easily soft-brick an otherwise fine device. So if you’re new to rooting and stuff, make sure you follow proper instructions while doing anything that requires root access.

Device Requirements For CF Auto Root

  • CF-Auto-Root Package
  • Operating systems Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP (CF-Auto-Root windows)
  • Android Device
    HTC G1, Hero, One
    Samsung i5800, i9000*2, P1000*2, P7100, i9100*2, N7000, P6800, i9300, N7100, i9505
    Sony T LT30p, Z C6603
Nexus Galaxy*2, N7, N10, N7-2013 (check chainfire home for more devices)

You can download CF Auto Root through this link https://autoroot.chainfire.eu/

SuperBeam For Faster File Sharing

Connectivity in phones have been developing along with mobile phones. It started with infra-red, then came bluetooth, then NFC and now the newest is WiFi Direct. Developers have formulated a new application called the SuperBeam which provides a faster file transfer process.

SuperBeam uses WiFi Direct to share any file stored on the device with another device, this is possible on a device that runs Android 4.0 or later. If your device runs an older version of Android, the application will automatically switch to hotspot mode. You can pair the devices using QR codes or NFC, you do not need to install an QR reader application because it has an inbuilt QR scanner. Another feature that SuperBeam boasts is the ability to use an existing WiFi network to connect and share files between devices.

Features:

Share files between devices using NFC or QR code scanning.
Blazing fast transfer speeds using WiFi direct.
Switches to hotspot mode automatically for devices that doesn't support WiFi direct.
Can use existing WiFi network connection between devices.
Share single or multiple files of any type (photos, videos, zip files, APK's)
Works with all 3rd party file managers and photo galleries.
Light and dark color themes.
Advanced settings

WiFi direct doesn't play well with custom ROMs. Please follow these steps to switch to hotspot (tethering) mode if WiFi direct is causing you issues:
Open SuperBeam scanner.
Tap options > settings.
Tap Advanced settings > Preferred direct method.
Choose Hotspot.
Close SuperBeam and try sharing again.

This application is available for free on Google Play Store.

Firefox OS Developers Preview for Android devices

In this evolving smartphone age where everyday in the world a new phone and a new technology related to it is being introduced, the very base of it the operating system is also evolving. Now the dominating operating system for mobiles is Android provided by Google, if we even see its stage and time period of evolution it has increased exponentially. Slowly other companies have also started developing there own operating system in order to make a place in the smartphone technology market. Apple has its iOS, Samsung has also come out with Tizen OS and Ubuntu is also trying to enter the smartphone market. Among these Mozila is also trying to develop a mobile OS, which is called as the Firefox OS.

The project name for Firefox OS is "Boot to Gecko (B2G)", it is a open source operating system just as Google Android. This operating system is designed to run web based applications and the installed apps on a smartphone , tablet and smart TVs. This operating system was introduced in February 2012, from them it has been trying to make itself relevant in the existing Mobile OS battle.

Thus Mozila has launched its developers preview of its Firefox OS in the form of a APK file for android smartphones. The developers have done a very good job by converting the OS into a APK so that one does not have to flash a new custom rom just to have a feel of it. One can have a taste of this OS just by installing the APK from the below given download link and the homescreen will be replaced by Firefox OS homescreen. As it is a Developers Preview, there are still bugs present in the APK but still it is worth to installing and having an experience of this new OS.

The APK is available on the official website. You can also visit this link for the developers preview.

"DeblurIt" An App To Deblur Your Pics

There are plenty of smartphones in the market with pretty decent cameras but there are always some pics which are little blurred but are really great. No doubt the photos taken from smartphones cannot be compared with that of professional cameras and there are always chances of photo being of poor quality and blurred.

So Xda-member Standy66 thought of  a solution and developed a app based on de-convolution theory .There are certain features where you can choose the Blur type, smoothness
and radius of the image which you want to get deblurred.DeblurIt supports images up to 4096×4096 pixels, can export to PNG and JPEG, and will operate in the background and notify you when the process is complete.

While commonly used "unsharp mask" filter just detects the edges and adds them to the original image, deconvolution uses information within the image to approximately restore the original state and fix photo blur.

Try out this awesome app and let us know How did you like it ??

Quiz up : Review

Nowadays, casual gamers prefer playing games on their smartphones rather than on any portable handheld gaming device, like PSP or Nintendo 3DS. In the past few years, gaming on smartphones have transformed drastically. Gone are those days when users used to play games like ‘Snakes’ and ‘Pinball’ on their phone. Now, it’s all about social gaming and competitive online games with eye-catching UI and stunning graphics, like Angry Birds, Cut the Rope, Uno, and many more. ‘QuizUp’ is a new addition to the list and will certainly appeal to audience of all generations.

As the name suggests, QuizUp is a free trivia game, available on Android and iOS, where you can connect with your friends or random players from around the world and battle them online in real-time. QuizUp claims to have more than 400 topics to choose from and 200,000 questions to play on. Amazing, Right?

You can login using your Facebook, Google, or e-mail account. It starts with you choosing a topic, after which it begins searching for an opponent and the best part is, you’ll rarely not find anyone to play with. QuizUp claims to have more than 10 million players. There are total 7 questions in every match and each question has to be answered in 10 seconds. If both the players answer correctly, the player with faster response-time is awarded more points. There is a levelling system where you level up topic-wise, rather than levelling as a whole, which I personally feel is better, as it gives you a clear idea about the player you’re playing with. With bunch of achievements to unlock, you’ll definitely come back for more.

In short, simple concept, brilliant execution. I would suggest this app to all Android/iOS users.

Multitasking Launcher For All Android Phones, SWAPPS

Recently Ubuntu has become the most talked about Operating System, people are trying to know all the features of it and exploring its interface. The Unity interface offers an incredibly quick and intuitive way to access your most commonly used applications from a launcher that appears on the left hand side of your screen. Developers have liked this feature and have built an "pseudo launcher" for Android devices called as Swapps.

The most exciting feature of this launcher is that it does not replaces the devices main launcher, just as in Multi-tasking feature of Samsung Galaxy Note-II. You can access all your applications from wherever you are without returning to the home screen in your Android devices. It is activated by swiping from the left hand side of the screen to reveal a list that is separated into three parts: favorite apps selected by the user, recently used apps. and a complete list of all the applications currently installed on the device. You can add up to ten of your most commonly used applications to the favorites section, and you can also customize any gesture for exiting this launcher. This is an application for making multitasking just a little bit easier in all Android phones because Multitasking feature is available only in recently available high end phones.

Features:

  • Contains full application drawer just like in your home application
  • 'Recently Used' panel contains 5 last applications you opened
  • 'Recently Used' applications background process can be closes by long press on the application
  • 'Starred' panel holds up to 10 of your favorite applications
  • It is accessible anytime, regardless of which application is currently running, using a simple swipe
  • Notification icon can be disabled or made transparent in the settings screen.
  • Fully customizable swipe-area (Side, Width, Height)
  • Doesn't affect battery life!!!

You can get this application from Google Play Store.
